Chinese Herbs Get Bad Rap From Greenpeace Study

First and foremost before I step into something here, I want to make it completely clear that I am not knocking Greenpeace.  They do a lot of exceptional work.  I'm concerned with those that take the headline of the recent Greenspeace study, "Chinese Herbs: Elixir of Health or Pesticide Cocktail" and make it appear that all Chinese Herbs are bad or toxic.  That is certainly far from the truth.

In my practice at #KansasCityAcupunctureandChineseMedicine I use KPC Herbs through Golden Flower who adhere to rigorous manufacturing, testing and quality assurance.

Can you get bad herbs? Yes, you need to be careful and make sure that you are getting them through a practitioner and not just someone who is selling herbs on e-bay or somewhere online.  Practitioners know where to buy the US FDA compliant herbs.

Golden Flowers says, "Golden Flower formulas use the highest quality raw materials. They are selected for freshness and verified to insure that the correct genus, species, and part of the plant are used. We ensure that your patients are getting safe, correct, and effective herb formulas by employing advanced techniques in herb selection, identification, and processing. All of our formulas are tested for pesticide residues, microbial activity and heavy metals. Our products exceed current international GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) standards."

I guess my greatest concern is that individuals will be convinced that all herbs are bad when that is just not the case at all.  The internet is remarkable when it comes to spreading not the whole truth and spreading it quickly.
